Population Basics
Instructions
This feature provides demographic data that will help you interpret information found in Arizona Indicators. Move your mouse over the map to view demographic tables for each county, metropolitan area, or the whole state.
Interpreting the Data
Data in the Population Basics tables come from multiple sources. Those that rely on American Community Survey (ACS) 2006-2008 require caution for two reasons:
- They are multiyear estimates that show what is happening on average over the full period and should not be used to say what is going on in any particular year.
- Sampling error is very large for most Arizona counties. Read "A Practical Guide to the American Community Survey" for a nontechnical discussion of the accuracy of the ACS.
